Journey of Hifza Waseem: From aspiring student to proud Food Engineering graduate and leader
I’m Hifza Waseem, a proud graduate of Food Engineering from NED University and former President of
NED Scholars for the 2023-2024 tenure. My journey with NED Scholars began in 2020 when I started
university, coming from a challenging background as the daughter of a rickshaw driver. Achieving an
engineering degree from NED was my dream, and with the incredible support of NED Scholars, I made it
a reality. When I first entered university, I had neither a phone nor a laptop, and the sudden shift to
online learning due to COVID seemed impossible. But through the grace of Allah and the immense help
from NED Scholars, I was provided with a laptop, financial assistance, mentorship, and a support
system that empowered me to overcome every hurdle. This organization became my family, giving me
the professional and personal growth I never thought possible. With mentors like Dr. Sohail, Dr. Asma,
and Dr. Khusroo, and seniors like Tabish Bhai and Umaid Bhai, I gained invaluable guidance that helped
shape my path.
In addition to my academic journey, I completed internships at Dalda Foods Limited, Pepsi, and the
Pakistan Standards & Quality Control Authority, gaining real-world industry experience. I also had the
privilege to showcase my final year project at international conferences, an achievement that would
not have been possible without NED Scholars. Today, I serve as Advisor Pakistan, and I owe much of
my success to the unwavering support of NED Scholars. This program not only supported my education
but also shaped me into a confident leader and committed Professional.
