Journey of Unza Nishat: From Overcoming Financial Struggles to Becoming an Urban Infrastructure Engineer
My name is Unza Nishat, and I am a master’s student at NUST, Islamabad. I come from a middle-class
family, being the eldest among my siblings. My father is a salesman, and my mother is a housewife.
Despite financial challenges, I focused on my studies and tutored to support my education. My father
has always encouraged my pursuit of higher education.
After completing my FSc, my dream was to become an engineer at NED University, but financial
limitations made this seem impossible. With Allah’s help and my uncle’s support, I secured admission to
NED. It was there that I learned about NED Scholars, which provides scholarships and promotes
extracurricular development. I applied and, Alhamdulillah, received the scholarship.
This opportunity was truly life-changing. With the support of NED Scholars, I graduated as an Urban
and Infrastructure Engineer from one of the top engineering universities in Karachi. They covered all my
academic expenses and provided me with a laptop to enhance my studies.
I am deeply grateful for the support I received, which extended beyond my graduation to help me
secure a job during my master's program. NED Scholars stays connected with its students,
emphasizing the importance of giving back to the community. Dr. Sohail often encourages us to never
forget our roots and strive to make this organization self-sustaining for the benefit of future students.I
want to thank everyone who has supported me throughout my journey, especially Dr. Sohail and NED
Scholars. I am committed to staying connected and contributing to the sustainability of this
remarkable organization, ensuring it continues to transform lives.
